Join us for an intimate evening of film, fun, and live music!
We begin the evening with the screening of the new documentary JAZZ NIGHTS: A CONFIDENTIAL JOURNEY, which was shot entirely using Canon cameras and lenses.
The screening will be followed by a brief Q&A with Producer/Director Hal Masonberg and the musicians featured in the film. The Q&A will be moderated by jazz singer and artist Ebony Ann Blaze.
Following the Q&A, the musicians will perform a set of live jazz!
All this will take place in the Canon Hollywood Professional Technology And Support Center Showroom, an amazing space to explore either before the film or while listening to live jazz and enjoying light refreshments afterwards!
Synopsis: JAZZ NIGHTS: A CONFIDENTIAL JOURNEY is an incredible exploration of jazz from inside the musicians world and psyche as a group of Los Angeles’ top jazz artists congregate to perform a word-of-mouth-only residency at an illicit hash-bar hidden in the heart of Hollywood. This residency took place once a week on Sunday nights for almost 2 years. JAZZ NIGHTS: A CONFIDENTIAL JOURNEY is the only recorded document of this historic undertaking.
At its heart, JAZZ NIGHTS is the story of the human need for artistic expression and community and its ongoing relationship with social and cultural change.
Run Time: 105 minutes
Though JAZZ NIGHTS is almost complete, we still need to raise the funds to acquire the very expensive music licensing rights to the many jazz standards performed in the film. Without these rights, JAZZ NIGHTS cannot legally be released. For a breakdown of costs, please go to: http://jazznightsfilm.com/#make-a-tax-deductible-donation
It is therefore we are holding this benefit event in the hope of raising both awareness about the film and some of the funds needed to get JAZZ NIGHTS out to its audience.
We are asking for a suggested minimum donation of $15 per seat for admission to the entire evening’s event. All proceeds go toward purchasing the music rights to the songs performed in the film so that JAZZ NIGHTS can be officially released.
All donations are tax-deductible via our fiscal sponsors, the International Documentary Association (IDA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
RSVPing is a two-step process (we’d prefer it were one, but we have faith you can do it! 🙂 ).
